The Cerevo LiveShell PRO supports video input resolutions up to 1080p30 (click here for full list of supported input resolutions) via an HDMI input (HDCP not supported) and composite SD video input is also supported. Output resolutions up to 720p are also supported. Below is the quick start summary, however, for the full documentation please visit the Cerevo LiveShell PRO Online Manual.

TWO IMPORTANT NOTES: The item below about matching the bit rate(s) and resolution(s) set in your encoder and your Sunday Streams Manager is a very important step. Skipping this step can cause playback issues. Secondly, the section at the end discussing a local backup is also very important and is highly recommended. For example, if your local internet connection goes down during your service due to weather, the broadcast may not be fully recorded on the Sunday Streams server. Having a complete local backup available to upload in situations like this can be very important.

Step 1: Create and Log Into Your Free Cerevo Account

Visit the link below to create your free Cerevo account. During the account creation process you will be required to confirm your email address by clicking a confirmation link in an activation email, please be sure to use a valid email for your Cerevo account. Once setup, you will use this account to configure your LiveShell PRO as well as being able start/stop your streaming remotely from a web browser on a computer or phone/tablet.

Once you have created and activated your free Cerevo account, or if you already have one, please login at the link below.

Step 2: Configure LiveShell PRO

Now that you are logged into your Cerevo account you should see a screen to select your Cerevo device as shown below. Select the LiveShell PRO from the device list. If you do not see the device list, click the "Settings" link in the top right of your Cerevo account, then click "Add new LiveShell".

Next, select "Other broadcasting services (specify RTMP URL)" and click "OK"

Next, copy and paste the "Broadcasting RTMP URL", "Stream (Primary)", and "Browsing RTMP URL" (leave "Use RTMP authentication" unchecked) from the Broadcast Settings -> Other Encoders -> Streaming Hardware -> Cerevo Settings page of the Sunday Streams Manager, and then click the "OK" button.

Next, select your Internet connection type and click "OK" and follow the onscreen instructions (NOTE: using the plugged in "Ethernet" connection is by far the easiest a fastest method to configure, additional details about the Wi-Fi Internet connection options can be found at in the online Cerevo Manual).

In this setup we will use the plugged in "Ethernet" connection type. With the "Ethernet" option, simply connect your network cable to the LiveShell PRO device, power it on by holding the power button down for 5 seconds, then enter the PIN displayed in the LiveShell PRO device's LCD screen in your configuration page and click "OK".

After entering your PIN and clicking "OK" you should get an "Initial Setup Complete!" message. Simply read through the tutorial information provided and click "NEXT" through those tutorial screens.

At this point your broadcast should be going, simply click the "STOP LIVE" button in the Cerevo admin control panel to stop your broadcast and proceed to the next step below to fine tune your broadcast settings.

NOTE: The preview in the Cerevo requires Flash. If your preview is not showing, please check to make you have Flash enabled and allowed for the Cerevo admin.

Step 3: Customize Your Broadcast Settings

Access the custom settings mode by clicking the "CUSTOM" button in the Cerevo Admin. From there you can set a variety of settings to fine tune your broadcasts. The vast majority of these settings would likely be left as they are in their default configurations, however, there are a few settings that may be important to fine tune. These are the "Average Bit Rate", "Profile", and "Vertical resolution". If you are having any issues we would recommend setting these to these settings below.

Average Bit Rate: 500 Kbps

Profile: Baseline

Vertical resolution: 240 px

From those low test settings above, you can improve your broadcast quality by following these 10 helpful tips to fine tune your broadcasts. However, for the "Profile", we would recommend keeping that at either "Baseline" or "Main" (we do not recommend using the "High" setting as that may not be compatible with some devices). However, for a quick middle ground to start, below is a good SD broadcast starting point that works for many configurations.

Average Bit Rate: 1000 Kbps

Profile: Baseline

Vertical resolution: 480 px

Additionally, the bit rate(s) and resolution(s) you use in your encoder must match the bit rate(s) and resolution(s) listed in your Sunday Streams Manager in the Broadcast Settings -> More... -> Bit Rates & Resolution section. The actual broadcast bit rates use must match those listed in the Sunday Streams Manager so that the adaptive bit rate players will function properly. If you are noticing any playback issues, this is a good first place to look to make sure your broadcast encoder settings match those in the Manager.

Step 4: Optional Multi Bit Rate Setup

The Cerevo LiveShell PRO does not offer multi bit rate support. Please be sure to use a resolution and broadcast bit rate in Step 3 above that would work for the most possible devices. We would recommend something in the 854x480 resolution range at a 1000 Kbps bit rate (or even a bit lower).

If you would like to do a multi bit rate broadcast with a LiveShell PRO device, you would need to get a second LiveShell PRO device and configure it for the secondary stream.

Step 5: Connect Your Video Input and Start/Stop Your Broadcasts

Once you have your video input connected and you can go ahead and click the "START LIVE" broadcast button (on the bottom right of this screenshot). You can also turn off the broadcast by clicking the "STOP LIVE" button while the live broadcast is streaming.

NOTE: By default, the LiveShell devices are set to start streaming automatically when they come online. To disable the autostart feature and require a manual start by clicking the "START LIVE" button, see the "Enable/Disable auto broadcasting when online" article in the Cerevo Online Manual.

Lastly, the LiveShell PRO device does not have the ability to record locally. Although the Sunday Streams system does record your broadcasts for archiving purposes, recording a local backup copy is highly recommended in case there are any issues (e.g. your local internet connection goes down during bad weather). Recording directly in your camera or splitting your output signal off to a local recording device are two possible options to accomplish this.
